Where the prices come from

We read the price each dealer posts on its own website. Every price shows the day we checked it, and we take it down after 14 days.

What "cash price" means

It means you pay when the oil is delivered. It doesn't have to be cash. Most dealers take credit cards, and some give a discount for paying in cash.

Why the state average is higher

The state's weekly survey includes full-service companies. They charge more per gallon because the service plan is built in. The prices we list are for the oil alone.

Order size

Most posted prices are for an order of 100 to 150 gallons or more. Smaller orders may cost more.

Propane

The lowest propane prices are usually for customers who own their tank. Many dealers will still rent you a tank for little or nothing at a price close to the ones we list, so it pays to shop around.
